The Scottish snowsport areas have all been busy getting ready for winter - a proper winter with good numbers of skiers and snowboarders. Huge amounts of maintenance and general tidying up, with some major projects also being undertaken. Glencoe is finishing the installation of the new Rannoch chair, while the new base station is subject to some material supply issues that could delay the planned December opening. The previous base station burnt down at the start of the pandemic. At Nevis Range they've been cementing their status as the mountain bike capital of the UK with a new 7km, lift served blue run, recently opened by Dougie Vipond and Fred MacAulay. Glenshee has been carrying out extensive maintenance and is planning a chair to replace the Meall Odhar T bar in the future. The Lecht held a September airbag session with Snowsport Scotland, using their snowmaking for the run-in despite high temperatures. At Cairngorm they will be facing another winter without the funicular. Extensive (ands very expensive) repairs are required to get it working, at some point in the future.
