The following glacier resorts are already open or will be open from 23 October: France - Tignes, Les 2 Alpes, Val Thorens Austria - Hintertux, Solden, Molltal, Stubai Switzerland - Engelberg, Saas Fee, Zermatt Italy - Cervinia, Val Senales, Stelvio The first big event of the Winter is the FIS Opening World Cup in Solden. The Men’s and Women’s Giant Slalom takes place on one of the steepest race pistes on the circuit - which is likely to be boiler-plate ice and a true test of ability, nerve and sharp edges.
