Event Raises Cash for Mighty MTN Rescue

Glencoe-based event The Mighty Coe has announced a donation of £500 to Glencoe Mountain Rescue team, from money raised through its snowsport event activity earlier this year.

Due to the high demand on the Glencoe MRT – call-outs have almost tripled in the last two decades – the team plan to significantly develop their HQ building in Glencoe village. This donation is being made as a contribution towards the necessary building work.

Launched in 2022, The Mighty Coe is a snowsports festival event with a programme of activity both on and off the mountain. The 2024 edition was supported by The North Face, whose support, according to the organisers, allowed for the inclusion of added mountain safety and skills activity in the programme.

Neil Dalgleish, from the event’s creator/producers Hillside Outside explains;

“Scotland’s mountains provide world-class opportunities for all kinds of fantastic experiences and adventures,” he says.“But if you find yourself in a difficult situation it’s easy to end up in serious bother."

"Working with The North Face on The Mighty Coe’s Winter Sessions meant we were able to offer valuable, and extremely enjoyable, mountain skills courses at a cost which allowed a wide range of people to take part."

“That’s something we’re really proud of, and to also be able to contribute financially to the Glencoe Mountain Rescue team is very satisfying. What the team do is both vital and invaluable.”

The Mighty Coe’s Winter Sessions supported by The North Face took place at Glencoe Mountain Resort and the Highland Cinema in Fort William in March, with courses on ski mountaineering, avalanche safety and steep skiing.

“These are vital skills, but learning them this way can be an extremely enjoyable experience,” says Neil. “Even our film night included important content on keeping everyone safe in the mountains, but first and foremost TheMighty Coe is a celebration of snowsport and all the amazing opportunities GlenCoe’s mountains can offer.”
